Academy Prep Students Honored
in Three Local Art Shows
|
This spring and summer, the artwork of Academy Prep students
has been featured in three local art shows. |

For 14 weeks this spring, four students from Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg met with mentor photographers from the Morean Arts Center (formerly the St. Petersburg Arts Center). The students learned about digital photography and editing. Each student presented 10 works in the Academy Prep Student Exhibition.
"The children shot over 300 photos," said Elizabeth Mann, art instructor at AP St. Petersburg. "So many of them were great! It proved nearly impossible to decide which ones to show."

The works of 25 students from Academy Prep Center of Tampa were showcased at the Ybor School of Visual and Performing Arts Gallery at the Hillsborough Community College Ybor campus.
The show, which ran from June 17 through 25th, included paintings, drawings, portraits, masks, ceramics, and photography.

The works of a group of sixth-grade boys from AP Tampa are part of the Eyes of the Child: Summer Showcase presented at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts.
As part of the Museum's Children's Outreach programs, the boys participated in an extra-curricular photography class which introduced them to digital photography and editing.
See the students' creativity on display at FMoPA in downtown Tampa (Jackson & Ashley) through July 25.
