In Memoriam:

Jack Cooke, of the Clinch Mountain Boys passed away on December 1st. And Liam Clancy (pictured), the last of the Clancy Brothers died December 4th. More about these artists here.

Music Briefs...

  • Bruce Springsteen was one of the artists saluted by President Barack Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors. Springsteen was honored along side others like Dave Brubeck, Mel Brooks, and Robert De Niro. Obama said, “These performers are indeed the best. They are also living reminders of a single truth - and I'm going to steal a line from Michelle here - the arts are not somehow apart from our national life, the arts are the heart of our national life." The special will air on December 29th . More info here.
  • Martin Sexton has a new album planned for April, 2010.
  • A tribute to Neil Young will take place during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
  • 2010 should be a great year for Patty Larkin! She’ll celebrate her 25th anniversary in music and will release a new album “25” in February.
  • Bob Dylan has a new video for his song “Must Be Santa”. It’s a must view! View it here.
  • The Beatles “Rubber Soul” is the latest Beatle album to be added to the video game “Rock Band”.
