50 Ways to Lose Your Blubber* …
Slip out the back, Jack. Save yourself. Leave the party before the second dessert course.
When baking, substitute half the oil required with applesauce!
Cut yourself a piece of sheet cake from the middle, where there is less icing!
Don’t need to be coy, Roy. Be assertive – ask the waiter to broil your fish and hold the buddah!
Hop on the bus, Gus! Or skip – or jump. Just keep on shakin’ your booty.
Treat yourself to a Root Beer float: one can of diet root beer and one scoop of lite ice cream.
Drink light-beer instead of regular beer.
Try fat-free, low-cal pudding vs. the heavy stuff. And for an extra treat, plop a dollop of cool whip free on it!
Substitute egg-whites instead of whole eggs in your recipes. Two egg whites equal one egg.
Drop off the key, Lee. The car key that is and walk!
‘Fry’ up some turkey bacon (instead of bacon) in a non-stick skillet. Yum!
When eating out and ordering a salad, ditch the croutons.
Make a new plan, Stan. A winning plan and stick to it!
Get yourself Free!
*Paul Simon’s song “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” was written after Simon’s divorce from his first wife Peggy Harper. The song quotes a mysterious woman as saying there must be 50 ways to leave your lover, leaving a loop-hole for Simon to only offer five ways in the chorus: “slip out the back, Jack; make a new plan, Stan; you don’t need to be coy, Roy; hop on the bus, Gus; just drop off the key, Lee, and get yourself free.”
If Paul Simon can take artistic license, so can Our Lady of Weight Loss.

Dear OLofWL ~ I am a wife, mother of a one year old, an in-home care-giver, and an amature weight loss artist. I am always doing something!! Many times I have had pep talks with my self to lay out a plan to lose weight from my pregnancy. It seems I'll be good for a day maybe two, and I get caught up in my hectic life again! A week or two later I'm in the bathroom again (having toilet time) trying to lay out a new plan! How can I stay on track and keep my plan going? Any advice would be much appreciated ~mj
Dear mj ~ Sounds like you have a rather severe case of "take-care-of-everyone-else-before-myself" syndrome. Here's the thing. If you are truly unhappy with the extra weight that you put on, and it's getting in the way of your liking yourself and/or your being the best MJ ever, then you owe it to yourself to take care of yourself, first. When you're food shopping for everyone else, make sure you put your list of foods on the top of the list. Schedule (actually put on your calendar) some alone time every day - even if only for 10 minutes. Non-negotiable exercise time; and fun/art time, too. Make a commitment to yourself. ~ OLofWL

Dear OLofWL ~ I've had some ups and downs. The downs being our potluck at work! So many cookies; so little time!! I had a few and still managed to lose a pound this week. I am 9 lbs lighter! Thanks be to "Our Lady of Weight Loss". I love the motto "All is Forgiven. Move On." And it is now my creed. I have passed it on to all my friends, and we use it for all things. It allows me to realize most "stuff" is not that important and it's okay to let it go. Can't change it so don't give it more importance than necessary. Praise to Our Lady of Weight Loss! - Pamela D.
Dear Pamela ~ Praise be to you for your enthusiasm and for the funny phrase "so many cookies; so little time!" Congratulations on your 9 pounds permanent lost! Keep up in your weight loss loop and let us know how it's slip, sliding away. ~ OLofWL

Dear OLofWL ~ Aloha from Hawaii ~ Love your book! I've lost 22 lbs since last December. I go to a fabulous Salsarobics class twice a week. I love to dance, and I shake my booty as hard as I can (lost 4 inches on my waist) as well as walk a couple of times a week. I'm still working on increasing weights and have really made myself be "conscious" of what I put in my mouth. That's not to say I don't put a couple of Snickers mini's in there every now and then, but I'm not putting in 2 Snickers ice cream bars like I used to.
Here's a tip for KITT Club members. Something I do after I know I have eaten enough, but when there is more to consume,I brush my teeth. I don't want to tarnish my clean pearly whites again, so the available dessert is just not so appealing anymore, not to mention worth the calories. BRUSH ON! ~ Bernie K.
Dear Bernie K. ~ Congratulations on your 22 pounds permanently removed. Bravo! You've got it going on. Shakin' your booty and all. And thanks for sharing your pearly white tip. I'm betting you have a tush kickin' smile! ~ OLofWL

"When I called on Janice, I had been stuck at the same weight for close to three months. I had reached that plateau that many reach, where one loses their footing on the road to healthy weight loss. Allowing myself to take a long three month break from my diet when Thanksgiving and Christmas rolled around and I got off track. During the 4 weeks that I worked with Janice, I lost 7 pounds and since then, have been much better adhering to my weight loss plan. Things make sense again. I felt supported, listened to, and encouraged by our four talks. It was a gift to myself speaking to Janice and I recommend her coaching to anyone who wants more support and guidance and help." ~ Rosemary R., Greenwich Village
