Turkey Bones: Never give turkey bones to pets. The bones can splinter and lodge in the stomach, throat or intestinal tract. Instead, provide chewing treats specifically
designed for pets.
Kitchen Smells: Our pets have highly sensitive noses that pick up scents before we humans can. Don’t be surprised when your cat or dog is underfoot in the kitchen while you’re trying to prepare rich holiday meals. Be careful of hot oven doors and hot containers.
Sweets & Chocolate: Keep pets away from holiday chocolate and other sweets. Be sure to store out of reach of pets. Baking chocolate contains theobromine, a stimulant that is toxic and can be fatal to a small animal.
You know your dog is a real one-of-a-kind…but what kind? Have you ever looked at your dog’s ears, tail, or coat and wondered what breed those features come from? Does your family pet try to herd the kids like a Border Collie? Try to fetch everything like a Retriever? Or chase squirrels like a Terrier?
Wanting to know your dog’s breed is much more than a matter of curiosity. The combination of breeds that make up a dog may affect its appearance, behavior, and well being in many ways.
The important genetic information provided by WISDOM Panel can help you work with your veterinarian to develop a wellness plan specifically tailored to your dog’s individual needs. It will help predict a puppy’s adult genetic weight range that can help you with early nutrition and exercise programs. This testing also includes a health risk pre-screening. In return, you will be able to make more informed decisions.
Knowing your dog’s breed may help you to work with your veterinarian to build a stronger, healthier relationship with your pet.
You will receive your dog’s breed results in a customized report, which will provide insights into your dog’s personality and appearance.
This customized report includes:

Meet "Pauli" Woodburn
November Pet of the Month
Hi, my name is “Pauli”, and I am Largo Veterinary Hospital’s November Pet of the Month. I am an 11-year-old American Domestic Shorthair. My mom says I’m special because I arrived at the front door shortly after my mom lost her husband. I am a miracle sent by him. A funny story about me was the time I got caught in the closet and couldn’t get out. My mom loves me so much that she lets me sleep under her arm with her head on my chest.
Ssh…don’t tell Dr. Lutz or Dr. Wood but my favorite treat is Albacore tuna and crabmeat. I love to beg in the kitchen standing on my back legs. I also enjoy watching the golfers and runners from my porch. At the day’s end, I can curl up anywhere I want for a catnap.
