Guidance - Junior Meetings - FAFSA for Seniors
| | |
JUNIORS - Mrs. Peabody will be meeting with each junior starting next week to review their transcript and to talk about preparing to be seniors. Students will receive an appointment letter the week prior to the meeting, and parents will be sent an email. Parents are welcome to attend, but not required.
SENIORS (Parents) now is the time to start filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow instructions. You will need income tax returns and other documents outlined in the step-by-step instructions. Filling out the FAFSA is important. While you may or may not qualify for Federal Assistance, many colleges require the FAFSA to be completed before awarding grant funds.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarships - http://www.cchs.us/Guidance/Scholarship%20&%20Awards.htm
COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES: Seniors, bring Mrs. Peabody a copy of your college acceptance letter, and we'll get you added to the website. http://www.cchs.us/Guidance/college_acceptances.htm
TRANSCRIPTS: If you need a transcript sent, fill out the request form, and turn it in to Mrs. Peabody. They are $2 each after the first six. http://www.cchs.us/Resources/Forms/transcript_release_authorization.pdf
BRAG SHEET: All students should be keeping a brag sheet. This is one of the most helpful tools when you start your college application process, and for teachers/administrators as they write letters of recommendation for you. Download it today and get it started! http://www.cchs.us/Resources/Forms/brag_sheet.pdf

College Fair
The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Spring National College Fair is Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 12-3 at the Tampa Convention Center (333 S. Franklin Street, Tampa). There are 160 colleges and universities expected to be in attendance, so this is a good time for underclassmen to explore the possibilities! Seniors may further investigate the schools they have been looking at, and perhaps find the "gem" that they didn't know existed.
