Calvary Baptist Church
Upcoming: January 25, 6 pm - Group Link - If you attend Calvary Baptist and need to find a Life Group, Group Link will help you connect. It's a great time to join a Life Group. Starting February 1, Pastor Rice will begin a seven week series entitled "The Bottom Line - It's More Than Money," and all adult Life Groups will do companion Bible studies.

January is a busy month at CCHS! Get your calendar and add the following events!
1. Martin Luther King Day Monday, January 19 - No School for Students / Office Closed. Because of the office being closed on Monday, SCRIP orders may be turned in on Tuesday, January 20. SCRIP order form http://cchs.us/Resources/Forms/SCRIPOrderForm.pdf
2. Presidential Inauguration - CCHS students will join other students throughout the United States and watch the historic inauguration of President-elect Obama in their classes on Tuesday.
3. Open House for Prospective Families - Thursday, January 22, 6:30 pm in Cafeteria B - Families attending will receive a certificate for a registration fee discount and admission to the CCHS Basketball game that night! Please inform family, friends and co-workers of this opportunity to register for the 2009-2010 school year.
4. Ask or Share - Tuesday, January 27, 8 am in Cafeteria B - Parents are invited to attend "Ask a Question or Share an Idea" with the CCHS Administrative Team. Please confirm your attendance by contacting Mrs. Peabody (peabody.cindy@cchs.us).
5. Guidance Night for 10th & 11th Graders with Mike Kennedy - Thursday, January 29, 7 pm Cafeteria B - Mr. Kennedy will share how to interpret the PSAT and PLAN tests. He will also discuss current trends in college enrollment.

Everybody's Tabernacle Mission Group

The group of students that signed up to work at Everybody's Tabernacle over Mini Mester in March wanted to get started working together early. After a few meetings, it was decided that they would go help serve dinner every other Wednesday starting in January. Last Wednesday was the first time. Each time, four to six students and sponsors will go and help serve dinner and assist however is needed. The first team consisted of Benton Jones, Jordan Sweetser, Duy Dao, Mr. Lipham, and Mrs. Peabody.

Summer Washington Internship Experience
The Washington Internship Experience is for motivated students interested in having a hands-on, in-depth learning experience in Washington, DC. The primary component of this Advanced Workshops Seminar is a three to six week internship in Washington, DC. Internships may be in a Congressional office, a Gubernatorial State office, Executive Branch office, a political party organization, or public policy organization. This is not a CCHS-sponsored trip, but an opportunity for those interested in government issues. You may print the application from the website. There is a $300 non-refundable registration fee. The cost of the Internship is $3,750.

Guidance - New Information Re FAFSA for Seniors

SENIORS (Parents) now is the time to start filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow instructions. You will need income tax returns and other documents outlined in the step-by-step instructions. Filling out the FAFSA is important. While you may or may not qualify for Federal Assistance, many colleges require the FAFSA to be completed before awarding grant funds.
