Meet "Sasha"
August
Pet of the Month
Hi, my name is “Sasha” and I’m Largo Vet Hospital’s August Pet of the Month. I‘m a 1-year-old Siberian husky. My mom and dad say I’m special because I protect my 5-year-old human “brother.” I'm always full of energy and love to chase the kitty, but I know my limits with felines. My mom and dad love me so much, I get lots of kisses and even get to sleep in the bed
with them!

Off Dental Cleanings During August
Pets’ mouths are the perfect place in which bacteria can flourish. When we don’t brush our pets’ teeth and stimulate their gums, these bacteria start to multiply, causing gingivitis, plaque and tartar build-up. These toxins enter into your pet’s bloodstream, circulating through the brain, kidneys, liver and heart, causing infection, disease and deterioration of these organs. As our pets age, tooth loss and serious gum infections become more common. Therefore, tumors of the mouth and gums become more likely with advancing age. Many pets suffer in silence with dental disease, while some pets may act depressed. The fist step to good dental care is to have your pet’s teeth examined by our hospital team members.
Pet Dental Facts:
Periodontal disease is the most prevalent disease among dogs and cats.
80% of dogs and cats show some signs of oral disease by age three.
Periodontal disease is common in dogs of smaller breeds because dogs’ teeth are often too large for their mouths.
