Welcome to BVGT!
As president of the Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented (BVGT) affiliate, I would like to welcome you to our newly formed organization for parents and educators of gifted children.

It is our desire to provide you with information that keeps you well informed and involved in the development and well being of gifted children. You’ll receive a newsletter a few times a year, and our website will be updated often with information about the many programs and services currently available.

Information provided in our newsletter will help you find out more about who we are, what our mission and goals are, the types of programs we will be offering, and how you can get involved.

BVGT encourages parents and educators who are interested in furthering awareness and understanding of giftedness in our community to work collaboratively for the benefit of gifted children. Our organization will be strong because of our mutual understanding of the unique joys and challenges that gifted children bring, and our community will be a better one because of what we all offer both collectively and individually.

I am extremely proud of all the hard work the BVGT committee has done to take this from the idea stage to reality. We have been busy planning, creating, organizing, and gathering information... all with YOU in mind. We are hopeful that you’ll want to get involved with us in furthering this important agenda.

Please contact me or the program chair with your suggestions or feedback about anything we do with BVGT. I want to be sure that we are providing you with a valuable resource that informs, guides, and stimulates your thoughts on raising a gifted child.

Sincerely,
Terry Bradley
Gifted Education Specialist

First BVGT General Meeting a Success!
Our first BVGT general meeting was held on January 15 at the Rocky Mountain School for the Gifted. At this event, Julie Gonzales, GT Development Specialist for Cherry Creek School District and Information Liaison for CAGT, spoke passionately on the topic "Pathways to Partnership: Making Advocacy Work."

We are currently planning future presentations of interest to Boulder Valley families. You are invited to send programming suggestions to programming@bvgt.org

State Legislation for Early Entrance to Kindergarten
House Bill 1021 amends the definition of "gifted children" to include children who are 4 years of age. School districts will be able to determine, based on criteria estabished by the department of education, if early entrance to kindergarten or first grade is appropriate and will receive funding for any such students.   Read the full text of HB 1021
