3M Protects Alabama Watershed
As part of 3M's commitment to sustainability, the 3M Foundation recently approved a three year, $1.5 million pledge to support the protection of Alabama’s Paint Rock River, adding to the Foundation’s previous support in the watershed which has already led to the acquisition of the Sharp-Bingham Mountain preserve, a pristine 1,160 acre parcel containing dense forests, caves and sinkholes and a stream flowing directly into the Paint Rock River. 3M Foundation is providing cornerstone support for one of the most important conservation projects in the Southern US. Continuing restoration of these lands will help improve water quality, buffer the river from run-off and increase habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife.
