I tuned-in to Oprah last week. She was talking about her weight gain and said that even though she had accomplished so very much, it mattered not if she could not beat 'fat.'
Stunning comment! Don't get me wrong. I am in favor of losing weight if you want to or need to ... and at the same time, whatever the scale says, whatever size clothing you wear, please do appreciate your accomplishments and love yourself. Really, you are fabulous! No ifs, ands or BIG BUTTS about it. Be happy, eat healthy, shake your booty, laugh it up, love it up ... and should your healthy living lead to permanent fat removal, consider it a bonus!

If you've been following the "
Oprah Weight Gain, 200 Pounds of Pure Love Series," then you know that Bob Greene, Oprah's personal weight loss guru (who - to my knowledge - has not personally experienced the battle of the bulge) is leading a 'weight loss/best life' webinar on Monday night. He has put forth his five 'deep-thinking' (NOT) questions for all who struggle with weight loss to ask themselves. (See below.)
Here follows what I have to say to Bob ... and to you, too!
Dear Bob, Your 5 questions are pretty good. BUT, if I were to be perfectly honest, which I have a tendency to be, they're not extraordinary. They are milk-toasty simple. In other words, while your questions are sound bitable, they do not ensure deep-get-to-the-core-of-the-issue thinking.
I, Bob ... on the other hand... have come up with five fat-burning questions that will not only blow-the-fat-cells-out-of-your-mind, present an entirely new perspective, but they will also bring a smile to your face (giving a-HA moments a new meaning)!

Chewing the Fat
Dear Janice ~ Even though I don't eat a lot, I frequently eat the wrong foods just to relieve my hunger, particularly when I'm aching or too weak to move around. I've tried to exercise but my endurance is so low, and I frequently have pain in my legs and back. I really need to lose at least 60 pounds, which I know will help with many health problems. Any thing you can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ~ J.C.
Dear J.C. ~ First and foremost, make your home your safe haven. If you do NOT have the WRONG foods in your home, it makes it increasingly more difficult to eat them! DO have the RIGHT foods on hand! With regard to exercise, I see that you used the word "TRY" ... "I have tried ..." As I've said many a time, or more accurately, as Yoda from Star Wars has said many a time, "There is no try. There is DO or DO NOT." 'March' during commercials. Put music on and sway ... just MOVE and then MOVE a bit more. Build from there. Small steps!!
AND ... you might want to ask yourself, "What is getting in my way, weighing me down, what do those extra 60 pounds represent?" When we are open and able to hear, see and understand our 'truths,' we can then move on. Get support! Find a place to be accountable. Be with people who are happy and energized. (FYI ... I offer a terrific program "The FILL YOURSELF UP with HAPPINESS Diet.") I hope this helped to shed the light on your problems and the truth of it all. ~ Deliciously yours, Janice

Crazy and Caramelized Baby Onions * A grand addition to any meal. YUM!!!
Ingredients: Baby Onions, approx. 7 ounces * Buttah, 1 tab * Olive Oil, 1 teaspoon * salt to taste * balsamic vinegar, 3 tablespoons * muscovado sugar, 3 tablespoons!
Directions: Peel the onions (FYI ... if you cover them with boiling water, and let the water cool, the skin will blister and remove easily). * In a medium sized saucepan, heat the butter and olive oil, then sprinkle with a bit of salt, and slowly saute for about 10 minutes on medium heat. * After the onions soften, add the sugar and continue to cook for another 12-15 minutes, until the vegar has reduced into the onions.
