Don't even TRY it!
The most sabotaging word in the English language – and therefore in the Battle of the Bulge – is the word TRY. The implicit possibility of failure is always there. You’ve left yourself a loophole and somewhere in the back – or the front – of your mind, you may hear a little voice saying, “You might not – you will not – do you really think you are going to – make it.”
There are other words and phrases that you can use instead of “try” that have a positive association to them.
Eliminate the word ‘try’ from your vocabulary; and substitute the words –

Tune in to yourself. When you hear yourself using the word “try,” substitute one of the above words and notice how the meaning and feel of the whole sentence changes.

Righteous Recipe
Cucumber Tomato Salad - Refreshing and delicious! I just love a good summer salad.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup rice vinegar * 1 tablespoon sugar * 3 cups cucumbers, peeled and cubed * 2 cups tomato, chopped * 1/2 cup red onion, chopped * salt and vinegar to taste.
Instructions: Combine vinegar and sugar. Add cucumbers, tomato and onion. Season to taste with salt and pepper; mix well. Refrigerate, covered, at least 30 minutes before serving.

Dear OLofWL ~ As a single Mom and a caregiver to my 90 year old mother who can't walk, I find this food thing a challenge. I often get home from work from my flower shop quite late at night. I end up making dinner at 9 or 10 pm, and then I put my family to bed. After that, my routine is to clean up the kitchen. Now, it's after midnight! And every night, I am beckoned to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, milk or anything to do with peanut butter!!!!! Sometimes, I am eating at 2:00 a.m. in the morning! I always like it -- while I am having it -- but afterwards, I am sick that I ate so late and that I am not sound asleep in bed! I'm exhausted!!!! And weigh over weight!!!!! It makes me cry. Help! ~ Regina
Hi Regina ~ First the good news! One of our wonderful KITT Club members sent us information about PB2, a peanut butter that miraculously removed the fat. Here again, is the link: www.bellplantation.com
And here is some more good news. As long as you stay within your calorie range, it doesn't matter when you eat the peanut butter. In other words, as long as you count what you're eating, it's okay to have a PB&J sandwich any time of the day or night. Be sure to measure the peanut butter, use sugar-free jam and light bread.
Now, it's true that you might want to limit yourself to one lite sandwich. Could it be that the late night eating is a way of your coping (or not dealing with) your frustrations and feelings? Take care of yourself. You owe it to your body! You want it to last!! ~ OLofWL

Dear OLofWL ~ This is Mary F. from Louisiana. Since I spoke to you on the phone, I have lost some more weight. I decreased my Dr. Pepper consumption to only about once a week, and when I do have a DP, it is a small one. I am also eating more fruits and vegetables at home and when I eat out. I've stopped eating McDonald's breakfast every day, too. I am saving money and calories. Thanks for the encouragement. My want power (to be thin) is increasing every day. I got back into a pair of size 16 pants that were too tight 3 months ago and my 18s are getting way too loose. YEA me! Thanks again. ~ Mary

Creative Acts of Weight Loss
What is a creative act of weight loss?
It’s ANYTHING that you do that feels good and feeds your soul, other than eating (the ‘bad’ stuff - in excess - when not hungry).
I have been admiring the Macaroni and Cheese altar in your book, Our Lady of Weight Loss: Miraculous and Motivational Musings from the Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal, but really had no place in my house to put one. Instead, I used another Altoids tin to make a portable altar! I can take this everywhere I go and set it up wherever I please! The inside has a picture of Our Lady along side some of my daily affirmations for weight loss. I'd be happy to send along the instructions if you're interested. - Cheryl M., Troy, MI.
Supplies:3-1/2 x 2 inch picture, piece of scrapbook paper or scrap of cotton fabric (This may be trimmed slightly later) You can also use the graphic from www.almondsarein.com. * Double-sided tape or 3-1/2 x 2 inch piece or Peel'n Stik by * ThermoWeb (this is a double-sided adhesive paper and can be found at craft and sewing stores) * Corner round punch (optional) * 2-inch wide clear packaging tape * Altoids tin
Instructions: If using Peel 'n Stik, remove the backing from one side of the sheet and attach the picture, paper or fabric. * Check that the piece fits the top of the tin and trim if necessary. (You may have to trim 1/8" or so off the top or sides) * Cover the piece of paper, picture or fabric with a piece of clear packaging tape. Trim any excess tape from the edges. If you would like rounded edges either punch each corner of the piece with a rounded corner punch or trim it with scissors. * If using Peel 'n Stik remove the remaining backing and attach to the top of the tin. If using double-sided tape, run a line of tape around all edges and attach to top of tin.
