IT'S ABOUT YOUR LIFE; not about your fat!
EVOLVE! (Don't just improve.) Improve means to do something better. Evolve, however, means that you permanently and fundamentally change a part of who you are.
Janice Taylor is an inspiration! Through hypnosis, movement, talk, and art, Janice changed my mind and gave me the emotional strength I needed to change my body. ~ AH
While working with Janice, I not only 'permanently removed' over 20 pounds, I changed my life. I got so much more than I'd bargained for - ME! Profound stuff. I heartily recommend Janice as a coach. ~ MEMcG

Happy Weight Loss
Hi Tushketeers ~ Praise Be! It's sunny outside; spring has sprung! I truly hope it has in your neck of the woods as well. Daffodils, Tulips, and more. Both OLofWL and I are doing cartwheels (well, she is ... I'm sort of not terribly athletic).
The big 'pop' news of the week is Susan Boyle from Britain's Got Talent. If you have not viewed this you-tube piece, do! Susan 'lack of beauty' has been referenced on every talk show in America. And so I ask this question. WHAT IS BEAUTY? (thus this week's art!)
It's quite amazing and uplifting! And ... as for my last week's 'pop culture' question ... does anyone care if Adam Lambert from American Idol is gay ... hip, hip, hooray! No one - and I mean no one that wrote me - cares! (see posts below in Chewing the Fat)
This is my last shout out to you regarding Kripalu ... COME!!! t0 Kripalu Institute for my workshop (April 26-29) in the Berkshires, Massachusetts, at which time YOU will be set free! Imagine being free from the weighty world of food thoughts and dieting! Imagine just miraculously relating to food as something that fuels you; something YOU have control over!
And now ... onto this week's KICK which is once again overflowing with juicy tidbits, solid information, thought provoking questions. Enjoy!
Spread the word ... NOT the icing,

Dr. Laura: Mean-Spirited; Anti-Fat
Here's what Kick in the Tush Club member, Nathanne, has to say about Dr. Laura and "her horrible attitude toward overweight people." (She was inspired to speak out by last week's post "Governor Paterson Declares War!"
Dear Janice ~ The war I want to declare is on Dr. Laura for her horrible attitude toward overweight people. A lady called, was married a long time, gained 40 lbs. after having kids, and her husband says he is not attracted to her anymore because she's overweight. The husband is no hunk anymore, also overweight, bald and cranky. So what does the great Dr. Laura say to this poor woman? In her all time bitchiest voice she said, "Your husband deserves a thin wife, not some flabby wife who let herself go." The woman was so browbeaten she just started crying, and didn't yell back.
I got so mad I wrote Dr. Laura an email. I told her that this woman had the body that gave her husband kids, made a home for him, and was there for him through thick and thin. He had some nerve throwing her to the curb just because she gained some weight. Mother Nature throws some real curve balls at women when they have kids, or just get older. I sent Dr. Laura the link to the article about how mammals store fat, and I reminded her that not all of us have a personal trainer and personal chef like she does.
I also told her my daughter is a registered dietitian who has lost 80 lbs. over 10 years, and it's the hardest thing she ever had to do. And the weight always threatens to creep back so she has to be super vigilant all the time, and exercise like crazy. It takes Knowledge and Kindness to help people with their weight, and since Dr. Laura has neither, she is not in any position to give advice about losing weight. When people call her about legal problems, she's real humble, tells them to go to a lawyer. But she thinks she can dish out advice about losing weight when she has no expertise at all in nutrition and dietetics. Same goes for Gov. Paterson...what a dumb thing for him to say.
I haven't heard from her, and I probably never will. Which is fine by me. I just want her to watch her big mouth.
After I read your "Governor Paterson Declares War" column. I decided to tell you about it. Thanks for reading my rant. ~ Nathanne
Dear Nathanne ~ I am going to do some investigative reporting on this. You said it all! Thank YOU for your brilliant 'rant.' ~ Janice

EMOTIONAL EATING ALERT!!! Cake? Comfort? Love? ... People tell me that they "deserve" cake, or a burger or fries, or a binge. They tell me that they have had a stressful day and "deserve" to, in effect, go hog wild! When you use food to comfort yourself, as a source of friendship and love, or as entertainment, you are ... Chewing the Fat
Dear OLofWL ~ ( I hope you are really reading this??)
Mazel Tov and Congratulations on your weight loss!! I'm having an epiphany, too!
I agree with you: When you are 100% busy - keeping artsy hands slathered with paint, clay, glitter and/or glue - you are not only your hands away from the fridge and cookie jar, but your brain is actively engaged.
However, now that I left teaching a few short years ago, I'm not doing any of that wonderfully delicious, non-caloric classroom activity. This coupled with my Celiac Disease meal plan (which can be high in carbs and calories) ... has caused me to gain weight. One slice of gluten free bread is equal to two pieces of enriched wheat flour bread. That means desserts are higher calorie too. Darn!
I'm definitely healthier now on the wheat and gluten free diet except for the extra pounds - 20 to be exact. I feel my life is out of control with this weight gain thing. I used to be thin, not too thin, with great body proportions. Now my proportions have portions. Will your books motivate me? Can your recipes be converted to suit my diet? Remember, my flours are higher in carbs. Do I dare hope??
I just finished making two Seders. So many foods are gluten free for Passover, so I baked and bought too many Passover gluten free goodies. Please, somebody stop me!! ~ Love, Sara B.
Dear Sara B. ~ Yes, it is ME; I read my own mail! And I do my best to answer everyone.
AND YES, of course THERE IS HOPE! No matter the changes in your life, and in the face of your medical challenges; it still boils down to this: Calories In/Calories Out - Make Your Home a Safe Haven (no red light foods; filled with fresh fruits and vegetables); Move Your Booty (walk, shake, do something) - and CHANGE YOUR MIND! and YES, my books can help you! Most definitely.
As for the holidaze glaze, whether it was Passover or Easter - I'm speaking to ALL now ... You do NOT have to hold on to the leftovers. GIVE THE CAKES, CANDIES, etc. AWAY. Throw it away. STOP!!! Get a grip. It's over. It's time to MOVE ON! All Is Forgiven, MOVE ON!
EVERYONE ... LIKE HOLA ... It's SPRING. The perfect time to shed those extra pounds, come to life and reinvent yourself!!! You are bigger than your challenges (and I don't mean that literally! ha!!). Step up to the plate (HA, again) and be your best self. No excuses! ~ OLofWL
***
Dear OLofWL ~ I love your 'shut-down the kitchen' idea! What keeps me from eating the last several hours before bed is my acid reflux. Peppermint tea, which I love, is one of the many things I must avoid - the peppermint does not, in fact, relieve an acid stomach. It relaxes the valve that keeps acid in the stomach and out of the esophagus, so that acid may go upwards. Please clarify your post so people don't make a bad stomach worse. I've had acid reflux for 7 years and am having to readjust my medications. It really makes me miserable, but it kept me away from the Easter candy, and motivated me to quit coffee two months ago.
Thank you for your uplifting words! I am now losing weight, and working out at the gym with a wonderful personal trainer. Yay!! ~ Liz
Dear Liz ~ Thanks for the info on peppermint tea! Clarified!!! Congratulations on your successes. Keep up the good work and spread the healthy word! ~ OLofWL

Dear OLofWL ~ I love your motivational e-mails and all of the correspondence that you send. I am in the process of reading your second book (All Is Forgiven, Move On) right now. My question for you is: Do you have any other sessions scheduled in the future? I live in the mid-west and with the price of the retreat and traveling I just cannot afford to make the trip. If you have one that would not be so far away I would love to attend! I look forward to meeting you one day and am hoping that I can use your techniques to change my way of thinking. Have a great day! ~ Heidi
Dear Heidi ~ Most of the workshops I teach are in the Northeast; however ... if you (or anyone else) wants to 'sponsor' (help arrange) a workshop in your neck of the woods, let me know. It would be my pleasure to meet you and your friends; see where you live and spread the good word. Thank YOU so much for your support. I'm delighted that you inspired by my e-letters, books, etc.! ~ OLofWL
