Happy Weight Loss
Hi Tushketeers ~ Morning!! and a Happy Monday to all. I'm hoping your week was filled with life, light and 'lite.'
I've got a special request from Tushketeer Kathie in Portland, Maine. She'd love to put together a Kick in the Tush Club in her 'hood. If you live near or in Portland, Maine, please write Kathie! This week’s Kick contains some food for thought about the Biggest Loser Winner, an amazingly easy and awesome mediterranean pasta summer salad recipe, information about the evils of ‘liquid calories,’ as well as scintillating letters from you in the chewing the fat section. And this week’s question: It takes a lot of energy to stay stuck, to keep your problems alive and in place. Hmmmm… “How do you stop yourself???”

BIGGEST LOSER WINNER: Helen Phillips' Big win
I don't mean to be a buzz-kill ... and I do offer my heartfelt weighty congratulations to Helen Phillips for losing 54.47% of her initial weight (now weighing in at 117 pounds), and for gaining $250,000 and a new attitude.
Still when the 48 year old Helen exclaimed, "140 pounds [lost]! Yes! Yes!" I couldn't help but to think ... "Lose it and you will find it. What about permanent fat removal? How will you keep it off without the cameras, the trainers, the television cameras?"
There you have it friends. The buzz-kill! Sorry ... but I am always concerned when people lose large amounts of weight in a short amount of time. Particularly when their incentive is an event or a date or a happening.
My question to Helen, the rest of the losers, and to you! When you 'lose' your excess weight, what's your maintenance plan? What will keep you motivated and moving forward? How will you manage to re-create yourself and your lifestyle to stay connected and in alignment with your new svelte body?

Dear OLofWL ~ I have experienced a number of traumatic, abusive events throughout my life. I suspect that each and every time I lose weight, I regain it plus a few more pounds, because I believe that my weight protects me. I want to lose weight for a variety of reasons, including my health. What can I do? ~ G.G., Jersey
Dear G.G. ~ First, I'm curious to know if you have sought help such as seeing a psychotherapist who specializes in trauma. Abuse, sexual, physical or emotional, is a deep and complicated matter, one which I wouldn’t attempt to answer in an email. Having said that, I might encourage you to consider eating healthfully and maybe letting go of one pound at a time. And with each pound released, regrouping and looking inward, assessing where you are in the process. You are smart to realize that it is a ‘belief’ and that it is not necessarily true. Just by reaching out, you have begun to shift your position and move forward … toward freedom. Please keep us in your loop. We are rootin’ for you! ~ OLofWL

Righteous Recipe
MEDITERRANEAN PASTA SALAD
I threw this together the other night - and I mean threw it together. A last minute attempt at having a real dinner to sit down to - and low-n'-behold - it was delicious. Everyone had third and fourth servings!
Ingredients:
16 ozs. Rigatoni (whole wheat pasta, if you are so inclined) * 12 pitted black olives, sliced * 1 16 oz. can diced tomatoes (minus the liquid) * 1 small red onion, chopped * 1/4 cup parsley, minced * 1/4 cup parmesan cheese * salt & pepper to taste (doesn't need much, if at all)
Instructions: Cook pasta as directed on package, rinse and drain. Add ingredients. Mix, toss, serve. (Serve with mixed green salad.)
