IT'S ABOUT YOUR LIFE; not about your fat!
EVOLVE! (Don't just improve.) Improve means to do something better. Evolve, however, means that you permanently and fundamentally change a part of who you are.
Janice Taylor is an inspiration! Through hypnosis, movement, talk, and art, Janice changed my mind and gave me the emotional strength I needed to change my body. ~ AH

Happy Weight Loss
Hi Tushketeers ~
I am having a 60's Flashback. It started on Friday night. Peter and I went to see "Hair" the revival on Broadway, in honor of 22nd moon-iversary. Our anniversary was on March 1, but I don't like cold weather, so we postponed the big celebration till this weekend and renamed it 'moon-iversary.' (Nothing gets done the 'usual' way in this house!) The show was great and it transported me back in time - thus this week's art and theme. Let the Sunshine In! Peace Signs! Guitars and Doves. Tune In * Turn On * Drop In!
Having said that ... TUNE IN: to PROFOUND PATHS to Health, Healing and Happiness tele-seminars. My one hour segment, coming March 31. It's f*ree ... and FABULOUS!
TURN ON to Our Lady of Weight Loss's motivational musings and DROP IN into Chewing the Fat for more groovy happenings!
Spread the word ... NOT the icing,
MOTIVATION TIP: LAUGH YOUR HEAD OFF!!!! (The human head weighs 8 pounds!) Watch a funny movie, tell a joke, read a light-hearted book!
DIET LIKE IT'S 1969!!!
Knudsen Diet 225 - "From the laboratories of Knudsen Creamery Co. the only dairy-fresh product scientifically formulated in measured calories for dietary weight control."
If you (or your Mom) were dieting in the 60s, you might have tried the Knudsen Diet 225.
The KD225 was one of the first diet supplements in shake form. There were three options available to dieters: Rapid Weight Loss, Gradual Weight Loss or Keeping Weight Down. If you chose the Rapid Weight Loss plan, you would drink four cans of the liquid meal a day, plus a snack at bedtime. If you became too hungry, you could snack on raw vegetables during the day. You were supposed to continue this plan until you lost the weight you wanted to lose!
For moderate weight loss, you drank 2 cans per day, and weight maintenance, a single can.
GROWN YOUR OWN: BOOST YOUR MOOD
Research shows that gardening has the power to change your mood, lower your blood pressure, improve the quality of air, alleviate depression, and increase levels of happiness.
So what better thing to do than to grown your own Kitchen Herb Garden!?! All the above benefits AND you'll have fresh herbs to toss into your happy, healthy recipes!
How to Create an Indoor (or Outdoor) KITCHEN HERB GARDEN
Soil-less Potting Mix (for cuttings or young plants; not seeds)
Herbs (of course!)
Single dish container (or multiples; depending on your window sill)
A window with at least six hour of sunlight - or - a grow light!
THE HERBS: Thyme, mint and rosemary make for a nice start, and they can share one container, as they have the same moisture and lighting needs. The easiest route (the one I travel) is to buy young plants at the florist, greenhouse or supermarket - you know, already grown!
Thyme has a distinctive, spicy scent and can be used to season meats, vegetables and as a salad garnish.
Mint has a fresh smell and a fabulous addition to a tall glass of lemonade or iced tea.
Rosemary is a member of the mint family, and is known to heal wounds, alleviates headaches and improves memory! It has a strong, pungent aroma. Add a few leaves to your breads, poultry and vegetables for a unique flavor.
Tip: The more you trim your plants, the more stems will grow and the herb will stay small and bushy!

Chewing the Fat
Dear OLofWL ~ I am an emotional eater. When I am overwhelmed with feelings, I eat; which is a good deal of the time. What to do? ~ E.E.
Dear E.E. ~ I understand how it feels to be overwhelmed and taken over by feelings. They feel very 'real,' and while they are, they are also fleeting and in actuality can dissipate rather quickly.
The next time you are overwhelmed by your feelings, see if you can ride out the discomfort. See if you can sit with your feelings, or talk them out with a friend, or write them out on paper.
Ask yourself: What might it be like to sit and experience my feelings before reacting to them? Note how long the actual feeling lasts. Make this your practice. And each and every time you 'ride out the feeling,' you will have better control and return to center faster and faster - without stuffing the feeling down; without food! ~ OLofWL
