Metropolitan Park Charrette Visioning Workshop a Success

A group brainstorming session during the Met Park Charrette.
On November 15, Mayor Peyton joined representatives from Jax Pride, the JEDC and the city’s Recreation and Community Services department in the Metropolitan Park Charrette Visioning Workshop.  More than 65 participants shared their ideas for the potential redesign of Met Park and Kids Kampus during the seven-hour working session.

Several common themes were echoed throughout the workshop. One resounding sentiment expressed at the charrette was that neither Metropolitan Park nor Kids Kampus embrace its
1,800 linear feet of frontage along the St. Johns River.  One comment seemed to sum it up, “When you’re in Met Park or Kids Kampus, you would never know there is a river right next to you.”

Jax Pride will release the results of the charrette in the upcoming weeks and they will be utilized to develop engineering plans for the redevelopment of Met Park and Kids Kampus. For those that did not attend, you can send your comments and ideas to Carol Worsham of HDR Engineering at metparkcomments@hdrinc.com
