How IMPORTANT is "THIS" to YOU???
(this being your health, your weight, your determination to let go of what no longer serves you)
While talking to one of my star weight loss coaching clients (you are all stars in your own way), I asked after hearing about the various dietary transgressions of the week, "Well, just how important is THIS to you? On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the highest ... how important is "THIS" to you?"
Because you know, Tushcateers, you don't have to lose weight. Nope, you don't. It's your choice. Seriously. Even if it is clearly a problem in terms of your health and your self-esteem, you do NOT HAVE TO lose weight. It's your choice.
Anyway, Star Client, replied "It's a 12." Wow! A 12!! For this client, permanently removing the excess weight (literally and figuratively), letting go of all that is weighing her down, is of vital importance. Once she got clear on how important "this" is to her, she got busy writing out a food plan for the week, she thought through possible strategies to navigate work and family gatherings; and then she added a few cups of happy thinking to the mix, and she was good to go.
And so, now, I ask YOU!!! How important is "THIS" to you? Here is a link to a "sign of these Weight Loss Times" that you can place on your fridge, carry with you, meditate on.

Chewing the Fat
Congratulations (???) to Bernette Rudolph, KITT Club in great-standing, for her fabulous feature on NPR's ALL THINGS CONSIDERED. As you will see, all things (even losing tons of money), has a silver lining! As BR tells me, this piece on NPR has brought people in to look at her art! Dear OLofWL ~ Last year this time, I had my head in the right place and had managed to remove 65 lbs. over a 1-1/2 year timespan. Now, since I have started working again in November of 08, I cannot seem to find the time to do what I know I have to do to continue on this path of weight removal. I actually have gained back 20 lbs of what I had removed! EEEKKK!!
It seems I have "lost that loving feeling" when it comes to my journey and need advise on how to get my motivation back? ~ E.M.
Dear E.M. ~ Motivation, as I write in my book ALL IS FORGIVEN, MOVE ON, is something that we need to do daily. In other words, just as you get up every morning and brush your teeth and wash, you need to get up every morning and motivate yourself. Make yourself a priority.
You wrote that you 'cannot find the time.' The time is there! It's a matter of how you prioritize your time. Make YOU #1 on YOUR LIST!!! Wake Up, Get Charged, Think Happy Thoughts (fake it till you make it on those days that it all seems impossible)... and then take out your calendar and mark down the actual time that you are going to shop for the right food, make your lunches, stretch your booty, etc. etc.!! Put it on your calendar. Take care of yourself first!
How will you motivate yourself daily? How will you find that lovin' feeling? Let me know your thoughts on the subject! We're here, rootin' for you! ~ OLofWL
Dear OLofWL ~ HELP!!! I am FAT!!
I have gained 25 lbs in the last few months. I am suppose to be on Thyroid pills but got laid off at work and can't get them now, so I don't know what to do. I need a life. I feel like I am dying inside and out! My weight is around 246 to 250 lbs... unbelievable. ~ S.
Dear S. ~ First things first. I believe it is dangerous to both your mental and physical states to just go off thyroid medication. Call your local hospital or church/synagogue or government official for HELP regarding your medication. Explain the situation and ask specifically if there are any programs for free or low-cost meds. We elect people to represent us, and your local government official has people on their offices that can help you figure out your options. (KITT Club members ... if any of you have had similar challenges, please let us know how you found the right clinic, person to help, etc.)
If you feel like you are "dying inside" (your words), you might also want to check with your local universities and see if there are any psychotherapy / psychiatry programs that you can sign up for. Universities are also a very good place to go for help. Lots of advanced students needing clients/patients to work with! Once you've got some help in those areas, you can better take on weight loss. Righteous Recipe
In honor of President's Day, this week's Righteous Recipe is a variation of Bill Clinton's Tuna Sandwich Recipe (from CDKitchen.com). For MORE PRESIDENTIAL RECIPES (NOT OLofWL APPROVED, but FUN!!! Click HERE)
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard * 1 can tuna - in water! drained (6 1/2 oz size) * 1 tablespoon reduced calorie mayonnaise (25 calories per tablespoon) * 2 hard boiled eggs, chopped * 1/4 cup chopped celery * 1 tomato, thinly sliced, six green olives, sliced * 1 teaspoon onion - finely chopped * 1 teaspoon pickle relish * lettuce leaves * 4 slices whole wheat bread
Directions: In a medium bowl place all ingredients with the exception of lettuce, tomato and bread. Smash, mash, mix!!! Spread tuna mixture on two slices of bread, cover with tomato slices and lettuce; top with remaining bread!
