Project Greenscape
• On Saturday, October 11th, the JEDC is partnering with DVI and the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association for Project Greenscape, an initiative that will enhance the streetscape in Downtown. More than 100 tree beds will be cleaned, mulched and planted on key pedestrian streets including: Laura, Ocean, Adams, Forsyth, Hogan and Monroe Streets. The Landing's Southeast U.S. Boat Show
• The Landing will host an all in-water boat show September 19-21 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to coincide with the Southeast U.S. Boat Show Convention. There will be live entertainment all weekend and free shuttles to and from the Prime Osborn Convention Center where the convention is taking place and where you can tour the show’s exhibits. Courthouse Update
• The proposed Duval County Courthouse will be presented to the Downtown Development Review Board (DDRB) for conceptual review this month and final review in October or November. City Council approved funding for the project in April. Once construction of the project begins, it will take approximately three years to complete.
Jaguars Value
• According to Forbes magazine’s 2008 valuations of NFL franchises, the Jacksonville Jaguars are now worth $876 million. The team’s value has increased 8 percent since Forbes’ report a year ago, and the team has more than quadrupled in value since owner Wayne Weaver bought it in 1993 for $208 million. According to the report, the Jaguars generated $204 million in revenue in 2007 with operating income of $27.6 million.
