Focus On: Wisconsin Practice Materials
No one is surprised that HCLL owns a complete collection of titles from the Minnesota continuing legal education publishers.  Whether it is a new title or one from several years ago, we are likely to own a Minnesota title when you are looking for one.  But are you aware that HCLL also owns an excellent collection of current Wisconsin titles?  Whether your need is for a Wisconsin form or a ‘how-to-do-it” guide for a Wisconsin procedure, we have a collection which will meet your need.

A subject search in our catalog just for “Wisconsin” [click links to view catalog] will link to a long list of specialty topics for which we own practice materials.  From the State Bar of Wisconsin, HCLL has titles on real estate, probatemarital propertystatutes of limitationcontractsfranchises,  limited liability companies, and damages.

The Wisconsin Judicial Benchbooks provide comprehensive guides to the workings of the Wisconsin courts, whether your case is criminal, civil, family, probate, juvenile, or traffic.  If your Wisconsin case has reached the appellate courts, you might need the State Bar’s guide to appellate procedure.

In addition to these specialty volumes, the library also owns several multi-volume sets covering Wisconsin forms and procedures.  Among these are Callaghan’s Pleading and Practice Forms and Wisconsin Legal Forms, both now published by West.  Finally, as tax season approaches, Hennepin County Law Library also owns Commerce Clearing House’s Wisconsin Tax Reporter.

All of these volumes are available for circulation.

Featured Web Site
Google Suggest beta screen shotGoogle has recently introduced an interesting new feature that is worth a look. Google Suggest, still in beta version, is a search term suggestion tool. As you type into the search box, Google Suggest guesses what you are typing and predicts queries you are most likely to want to see. It suggests various terms and indicates how many results for each term.

In a test search for Sarbanes Oxley, typing “sar” brought suggestions Sarah Jessica Parker, sars, and sarcoidosis. Typing “sarb” included Sarbanes Oxley -- 1,580,000 results and the misspelling Sarbannes Oxley -- 7,760 results. For a more comprehensive search, you may want to search both spellings. Google Suggest is an interesting tool that encourages us to think about how we compose search queries.
