Dear OLofWL (Janice) ~ Just wanted to tell you that I love your art work. I read that making a collage helped you to 'permanently lose weight,' so I decided to try it.  I took three hours out of my day and did just that!   Although mine is not so pretty, I still did and placed it on my blog.  I just started it the other day.

Thank you for the idea!  It really got me thinking about how I truly see and feel about food, society, inner self and weight loss.

Once again, thank you for the idea and I do plan on looking at it when I am feeling weak.  And I look forward to maybe even making more! ~ Nicole

Dear OLofWL  ~  I'm struggling with an uneven record - 3 or 4 days on track, then a day or two not on track.  Tough year:  I retired from teaching, my Mom died, family hard times ensued.  I'd like to be more friendly and active, but I don't seem to have much energy...though I go to the gym sometimes and walk the trails.  But then again my weight, and I have been on this see-saw relationship for a long time.

I'm not much for the pity-pot but now that I write it out, I'm thinking I need to give myself some rest other than a carbohydrate buzz.  I know, I know, I have two choices:  make some of the day or not.  I'm just plain scared is what it is, and growing older, and a lifetime of tides sometimes seem irreversible. ~ Susan

Dear Susan ~ I'm sorry for your loss, Susan.  You did, indeed, have a difficult year.   I do believe that writing it out was helpful for you.  Seems you worked through a lot of what was going on in your mind.  As you said, you're not a "pity-pot!"  And ultimately, you do have a choice.  We are the lump sum of our choices, aren't we?  And, my friend, it's not over till it's over!  We're all getting older. 

I get that it's overwhelming.  How would it be to take one step at a time?  How would it be to wake up each morning and say, "What is one step that I could take today that will help to move me forward?"  Why not try it for one week?  Wake up and write down one positive thing to do.  Just one and see what happens.  Let us know!  Thanks for opening up and sharing.  ~ OLofWL

Rosemary Capellini a la Aphrodite

Rosemary, an aphrodisiac, found in early depictions of the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, clutching or wearing a sprig of the fragrant herb ...

* when placed under your pillow, promotes pleasant dreams,
* when steeped in tea, calms frayed nerves, and
* when the scent is present during certain amorous adventures, future hints of the heady bouquet will evoke a Pavlovian call to love!

Start your evening with a hot soak in a bath scented with a few drops of rosemary essential oil will improve circulation to the skin and sensitivity to touch. 

And then serve up:  Capellini Rosemary a la Aphrodite!

Ingredients:  6 cloves garlic, minced * 1/4 cup olive oil * 1/2 cup chopped rosemary * 1/2 cup chopped parsley * 1/2 cup chopped chives * 1 pound capellini  * salt n' pepper to taste

Instructions: Heat garlic in olive in a skillet until nice n' brown. * Stir in herbs and heat. * Cook the pasta until al dente. * Drain and toss with the herb mixture.
